The PADI Open Water Diver course includes 3 main phases:

  • Knowledge Develoment (online e-learning) to understand basic principals of scuba diving

  • Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills (can be completed within 1-2 confined water dive sessions)

  • 4 x Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore


 
 

ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER

RESCUE DIVER

DIVEMASTER COURSE

Scuba divers look up to Divemasters because they are leaders who mentor and motivate others. As a divemaster, you not only get to dive a lot, but also experience the joy of seeing others have as much fun diving as you do.

The PADI Divemaster course is your first level of professional training. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, you’ll fine-tune your dive skills, like perfecting the effortless hover, and refine your rescue skills so you anticipate and easily solve common problems. You’ll gain dive knowledge, management and supervision abilities so you become a role model to divers everywhere.

As a PADI Divemaster, you’ll lead others as you supervise scuba diving activities and assist with diver training. Whether you want to work at a faraway dive destination or close to home at a local dive shop, the adventure of a lifetime awaits you. PADI Divemasters are respected dive professionals who are aligned with the largest and most respected dive organization in the world.” – PADI.

Prior to beginning the course you must:

  • Be 18 years or over.

  • Have Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR & First Aid) training within the past 24 months.

  • Have Open Water, Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver certification (UWS can assist you in completing these)

  • Have at least 40 logged dives to begin the course and 60 logged dives to earn certification.

  • Pay a deposit of $480 to cover PADI course materials.

DIVEMASTER COURSE, CONT.

Divemaster course modules:

Water skills and stamina module

Rescue skills, swimming tests and developing your ability to demonstrate the basic dive skills.

  • 400m free swim – any stroke, timed

  • 800m snorkel swim – with the use of mask, snorkel and fins, timed

  • 100m tired diver tow – in full equipment, timed

  • 15-minute tread water

  • Demonstration of 20 scuba skills, learnt on your Open Water course

Practical application module

Mapping a dive site, underwater problem solving, divemaster conducted programs, supervising certified divers and assisting student divers etc.

  • An underwater problem solving exercise

  • A Rescue Evaluation

  • Make an Underwater Map

  • Prepare an Emergency Assistance Plan

  • Conduct a PADI program – Discover Scuba Diving

  • Assists divers and students in confined and open water

Divemaster certification qualifies you to:

  • Organise, conduct and supervise recreational diving activities, both land and boat based.

  • Assist PADI Instructors in conducting PADI Diver programs.

  • Act as certified instructional assistant to PADI Instructors.

  • Supervise participants in PADI experience programs for uncertified divers.

  • Supervise both training and no training related diving activities by planning, organising and directing dives.

  • Teach and certify PADI Skin Divers and Snorkellers.

  • Conduct the PADI Scuba Review program for certified divers.

  • Enrol in PADI Instructor level training.

Upon successfully completing the PADI Divemaster program you'll receive a certification card and wall certificate denoting this rating. You'll also become a member of PADI and receive benefits, including the ability to purchase professional liability insurance (which may be required to conduct some activities).
